Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Germany
Diona worked closely with the Authority for Labour, Health, Social Affairs, Families and Integration (BASFI) in Hamburg, Germany to support both the Housing Benefit program (Wohngeld) and the SGB VIII Child and Youth Welfare aspects of the German social code, using different Diona solutions.
Diona Self Service is implemented to meet all Wohngeld program needs and requirements. Wohngeld is a government housing subsidy designed to help low- and middle-income households cover their housing costs. It supports both renters and homeowners by providing financial assistance for rent or mortgage-related expenses, ensuring that housing remains affordable for those whose income is not sufficient to fully cover these costs. Eligibility depends on household income, size, and rent or mortgage levels, and the benefit is intended for households that do not already receive full housing support through other social welfare programs.
Wohngeld-App offers a wide range of functionality to citizens of Hamburg looking to apply for benefits from the Wohngeld program, such as completing initial applications, filling in re-applications and application amendments (while pre-populating all previously provided data), along with tracking case status, payments and the ability to contact their Wohngeld Social workers directly. Using the Wohngeld-App citizens can upload important documents to support their applications. This is all integrated seamlessly into their backend case management system - this in turn streamlines the entire process, reducing agency staff time spent on processing applications and documents, allowing them to focus on citizens that would really benefit from social worker assistance.
Diona Visits is implemented, also with BASFI, to support two distinct Child Support use cases in Hamburg - it is designed to support the Child and Youth Welfare Office that provides support and advice to children, young people, families, and caregivers facing social, educational or family challenges; while the Guardianship use case involves legally representing and protecting the interests of children and young people who cannot be cared for by their parents.
JUS-App supports both use cases using the same instance of the implemented solution, with functionality available to each user defined by their user-role in the system.
JUS-App is available to over 400 social workers across the city-state. JUS-App provides social workers with the ability to leverage mobile devices to conduct and complete assessments and forms, dictate notes, use audio and video capabilities, and work offline all while interacting with children, youth and families in the moment of need. JUS-App seamlessly integrates with the BASFI back-end case management system.
JUS-App is helping to increase the efficiency and productivity of Hamburg’s social workers by providing technology solutions that remove daily administrative tasks while making social work more attractive by providing modern, easy-to-use solutions to help social workers do their job.
As a result of this innovative project, JUS-App was nominated for a prestigious award at the recent European Social Services Awards in Malaga, Spain.
