Michigan Department of Health & Human Services

The State of Michigan’s Child Support program is designed to ensure that children receive the financial and emotional support they need to thrive. Administered by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) in partnership with local Friend of the Court offices and prosecuting attorneys, the program promotes the well-being of children by increasing parental involvement, reducing reliance on public assistance, and strengthening family self-sufficiency through fair and efficient child support enforcement.

To advance these goals, the State partnered with Diona to introduce a native mobile self-service solution based on Diona Child Support. The MiChildSupport mobile app expands access by enabling parents to:

  • Apply for child support services using a mobile-optimized experience

  • Complete and submit pre-populated forms needed to support ongoing case processing

  • Track their case from application through enforcement with clear, step-by-step status visibility

  • Communicate directly with their Friend of the Court and prosecuting attorney offices

  • Receive push notifications about upcoming payments and case updates

Designed specifically for the smartphone experience, the MiChildSupport mobile app offers an intuitive, streamlined interface that supports on-the-go engagement. It complements the State’s existing website by extending essential self-service capabilities into a solution optimized for the mobile user, while maintaining seamless integration with backend systems to ensure a consistent experience across channels. Together, these digital tools improve accessibility, enhance user experience, and support a wider range of user needs and preferences.
